Hepatitis

Hepatitis is a viral infection of the liver. There are many kinds. The most common are A, B, and C.

What are the symptoms?

  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Pain in liver (under right rib cage)
  • Jaundice

How do I know if I have it?

  • With a blood test for Hepatitis A, B or C.

How can I avoid getting Hepatitis?

Hepatitis A:

  • Check with your doctor to see if you need the vaccine
  • Wash hands with soap and water, before and after:
    • Preparing food
    • Using the bathroom
    • Changing diapers
    • Eating

Hepatitis B:

  • Do not share needles.
  • Use condoms.
  • Get the vaccine for Hepatitis B.
