The Anti-Tribalism Movement The Anti-Tribalism Movement is a revolutionary movement which aims to educate the Somali community about tribalism as we use tribal structures for the wrong reasons, and more often than not we tend to ignore the reason why tribes or our qabiil has been created. The sole purpose of tribes being created is to locate your ancestors, but... in recent generations things have been misapprehended and tribes have divided Somalia and its people by simply putting borders between cities and people not being able to pass through a certain area because of the tribe they were born into.
We aim to get rid of tribalism not tribes, because your tribe is basically your family tree and your history, tribalism on the other hand is the discrimination and hatred from one tribe to another because an individual feels their tribe is superior over another individual. Therefore movement is trying to educate young people about the dangers of qabyalad and to inform them of the damage it is causing in within Somali community.
